Why We Built Six Categories Instead of One Big Lobby

Why We Built Six Categories Instead of One Big Lobby

When we were putting Citinow together, the easy option was to throw every game onto one long homepage and let players scroll until something caught their eye. We didn't do that, and this post is about why we split things into six distinct categories instead — Slots, Casino, Sports, Table, Lottery and Others.

The Problem With One Big Lobby

A single undifferentiated feed sounds simple, but in practice it just pushes the sorting problem onto the player. If you already know you want a live baccarat table, you shouldn't have to scroll past forty slot thumbnails to find it. We'd rather do that organising work once, on our end, than make every visitor redo it every session.

How We Grouped Things

Slots and Casino split naturally along RNG versus live-dealer lines. Table sits between them — RNG-driven like slots, but card-and-dice based like our live tables. Sports is its own animal entirely, running on real fixtures instead of anything we control directly. Lottery runs on a draw schedule rather than instant spins, and Others is honestly our catch-all for formats that don't fit anywhere else — crash games, fishing titles, arcade shooters.

Why We Didn't Merge Similar Categories

We could have folded Table into Casino since both are card-and-dice heavy, but the live-dealer pacing is different enough from an instant RNG round that we thought they deserved separate homes. Same logic kept Lottery apart from Slots — a number draw and a reel spin just don't feel the same, even if both are technically games of chance.

What This Means for You Day to Day

In practice, it means our sticky sidebar always shows exactly six rows, and clicking any of them takes you straight to a filtered grid for that category — provider strip, search bar, hot/new/favourite tabs, all scoped to just that section. No hunting through an undifferentiated wall of thumbnails.

Provider Filtering Within Each Category

Within each category page, you can also filter by provider — so if you specifically want Pragmatic Play slots or Evolution live tables, you're not even browsing the whole category, just the slice of it that matches the studio you trust.

Our Take

We think a well-organised lobby is an underrated part of what makes an online casino worth returning to. It's not flashy, but it's the difference between a five-second navigation and a five-minute scroll. If you haven't looked through all six sections yet, it's worth a browse from our Citinow homepage — you might find a category you didn't know you wanted.
